Hundreds of free holiday club places available this December.

Hot meals, activities and festive fun included

Holiday periods can be challenging for families, with extra expenses to budget for and childcare to manage. The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme returns to Harrow this winter with thousands of free session places for eligible children and young people. From Monday 18 November, families of children from Reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-related Free School Meals can book places that include a hot meal at https://youngharrowfoundation....

Healthy eating and being active sit at the heart of the HAF programme. Sessions include a healthy meal, simple support around nutrition and plenty of chances for children to move and play over the holidays.

The HAF programme continues to expand in Harrow. During this summer, there were 13,031 attendances, with over 13,000 meals served, and participation from 1,477 primary-aged and 234 secondary-aged children. Nationally, the government has committed over £600 million to the HAF program from 2026/27 to 2028/29, demonstrating that HAF can help families save over £300 a year.

Dan Burke, CEO of Young Harrow Foundation, said:

“Winter can be a real pressure point for families, with higher costs and children out of school. HAF means eligible children still have somewhere warm and welcoming to go, a hot meal and time with friends, while parents know they are safe and supported.”

Cllr Hitesh Karia, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:

“We want every child in Harrow to feel included and supported during the winter and festive season. I’m delighted to see the Winter Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme return. It’s a wonderful initiative that gives children and young people the chance to enjoy fun activities, stay active, and create happy memories – no matter their circumstances. By working in partnership with Harrow Young Foundation, we’re putting residents first and offering that extra bit of support to families who need it most during this special time of year.”

Booking is now open, and spaces are limited.

Families are encouraged to book early to avoid missing out.
