Update on NRCSE and YPF Trust

In April 2022 the YPF Trust and NRCSE came together in support of supplementary schools and out of school settings.

The work, staff and resources of NRCSE moved across to YPF Trust and formed the foundations of a new and exciting programme of work building on the legacy of place-based investment and community support provided by NRCSE since 2012, reaching thousands of children and young people across the country.

The supplementary education sector is a vital part of many children, young people and community’s lives across the country – yet the work remains undervalued and under-resourced.

We are committed to championing this work, supporting the sustainability and growth of the sector and ensuring that supplementary education is at the heart of local and national solutions to the challenges many children and young people face.

We believe that YPF Trust is the ideal home for supplementary education support in the future and will enable this work to thrive alongside our ambitious plans for the future of the Young People’s Foundation network.

We would like to pay tribute to Pascale Vassie who set up the NRCSE and whose legacy will continue with this ambitious development.”

NRCSE support community-led supplementary schools and the wider supplementary education sector across England, including at the British Somali Community supplementary school.

Mohiadin Wagad, their Coordinator, said:

“We regularly benefit from the training and meetings organised by the NRCSE. We currently have 80 students attending our program, we also hold workshops for their parents on monthly basis on programmes such as supporting children at home, online safety, mental health awareness, crime awareness programs. The number of families requesting to join our school is increasing day by day"

In the short term, the offer from NRCSE will not change, and over time we will seek to grow the offer through YPF Trust and build new partnerships and collaborations locally and nationally which are led by communities and centred on outstanding opportunities for all children and people.
